Tails is a fox who, throughout most of his life, has seen a lot more than a normal kid probably should have. From smaller threats like a few robots terrorizing a town to dealing with beings that threaten to tear apart time and space, Tails has always been there to offer his tactical skills, knowledge of technology, or even just the technology itself, to any dangerous situation.Tails had been Sonic’s sidekick since he was quite young, a strong bond between the two having formed early on. He followed in Sonic’s footsteps to become a hero, doing his best to stop whatever threat would dare to rear its ugly head. He never wanted to be Sonic’s replacement, but he had always seen it as a great honor to help those in need.Tails’ life would change around age 15, however. Years before, he had met an alien girl during an expedition in outer space by the name of Cosmo. Though he was still young, he had developed rather serious feelings for the plant-like alien girl. Unfortunately however, this friendship was one that wouldn’t last, as she had given her life to save everyone, leaving behind a single seed that Tails had cherished. For the years leading up to his teenage years he took great care of the seed, making sure to water it and give it light.After years of hard work and caring for the seed, when Tails was 15 the plant itself blossomed into a small alien similar to Cosmo, though it was clear to the fox right away that the little girl before him wasn’t Cosmo. Dubbing her Blossom, Tails took it upon himself to raise her as his daughter.The years following Blossom’s birth were quite eventful for the fox. Only a few years later, Sonic and his friends would have the last recorded large-scale confrontation with Robotnik and his robotic army. This battle was fierce, with Sonic's group managing to come out on top. However as a last resort, Eggman would fire off a beam from his mech that would have completely vaporized Sonic, had Tails not shoved the hedgehog out of harm's way. This event would have many consequences for the group as a whole, but chief among them was the loss of Tails' arm, which he would eventually replace with a custom made prosthetic.The conflict with Robotnik had caused Sonic to enter his dark form to maim Eggman. While he was pulled off of the Doctor by Shadow, Amy and Knuckles, the damage had been done. Robotnik, last seen in a critical state, has long since disappeared. In the time since then, Tails was able to dedicate himself to not only being a father to Blossom, but to even start up a company which creates and repairs various bits of technology.As he grew older, he found more out about himself. Around age 20 he would discover that his extra tail was due to a minor bit of kitsune lineage in his blood, which would eventually lead to him gaining a third tail. On top of this, he found that his technologic expertise was the result of a latent technokinetic ability, allowing him to more easily interface and manipulate his creations.These days, Tails takes his responsibilities as both a business owner and father seriously. Though he does work often, he manages to find quite enough time to spend with Blossom whenever she needs it, a task made easier with Gemerl also assisting Tails with his business.

  • Tails is part Kitsune, a very selective gene which manifested itself in him after skipping a good few generations of his family, which resulted in having a second tail at quite a young age. His powers from this side of his bloodline is believed to be tied to his Technokinesis, with his technological and engineering know-how coming from this ability as early as 6 years old. His extra tail grew as his control over his technokinesis grew, granting him three tails and an expanded list of abilities.

  • Regarding the Technokinesis, Tails’ primary uses for the ability include the following, in order of acquisition;

  1. Mechanical Mastery - The power to be a master of mechanics, either innately or through training.

  2. Cyberlingualism - The power to communicate with technology telepathically, by speaking verbally, or by touching other devices, with all forms of technology, including machinery, computers and other electronics.

  3. Scanning - The power to scan anything and analyze the gathered information.

  4. Electronic Communication - The power to intercept, generate, and interpret electronic, digital, and radio transmissions.

  5. Activation and Deactivation - The power to activate and deactivate various electronic devices.

  6. Device Manipulation - The power to manipulate any kind of devices, a set of equipment made or adapted for a particular purpose, especially a piece of mechanical or electronic equipment.

  7. Interface Creation - The power to create holographic displays to view or manipulate the contents of electronic devices.

  8. Internet Manipulation - The power to access and manipulate the internet, such as access to the internet, its protocols, its structure, the world wide web, communication and data transfer.

  9. Download - The power to download information from either the internet or electronic devices, gaining knowledge of the downloaded items.

  10. Technological Possession - The ability to possess or inhabit electronics and machinery, leaving the body behind as the mind takes control of the machine. Damage to the body severs the connection, recalling the mind back to the original body.

  • Tails has done a bit of work with Warp Rings, trying to harness their energy with various bits of technology. As a result, he has a few bits of technology that seemingly defy physics and reality. He has an arm cannon, a mechanical boxing glove, and an even larger mechanical hand, all of which he can summon from seemingly nowhere.

  • While it may be nothing more than coincidence, Cosmo’s seed from Sonic X has been hinted at in at least four places outside of Sonic X. The seed itself at the end of Sonic X is shown to be a green sprout in a white pot. While these may may just be references within the context they appear in, they are considered to be the same seed as shown in Sonic X’s ending for the purposes of this blog, which would eventually sprout into Tails’ daughter in this AU.

  1. A white flower pot with a sprouting plant appears in Sonic Channel artwork from 2021, in which Tails is working on the Tornado in his lab.

  2. A white flower pot with a sprouting plant is on the windowsill of Tails’ Lab in Sonic Chronicles.

  3. A white flower pot with a sprouting plant is in Tails' workshop in the Tailstube series. This time the pot itself looks exactly like the one in Sonic X, complete with the decorative trim.

  4. The 2023 Lego Set #76991, "Tails' Workshop and Tornado Plane" features a single piece - a plant that is meant to be seated on a 1x2 Jumper Plate, acting as a desk plant of sorts. Though it has no pot, the same set includes a Yellow Crystal referencing Tails' Fake Chaos Emerald from Sonic Adventure 2. Because of the specificity of that reference, I believe this was an intentional reference to the potted plant... even if the pictures show Sonic just holding the sprout without a care in the world.

  • A lot of the technology that Tails uses in his personal life is stolen Eggman tech. On various occasions, such as visiting the crashed Egg Carrier after Sonic Adventure, he was able to download things from the computers, including the design of the E-100 Series robots. He has been known to build these for workshop purposes from time to time, and has even considered marketing them.

  • Tails often uses Fake Emeralds as power sources. While they are a finite source of energy unlike Chaos Emeralds, they are easily created and more reliable than having to worry about protecting a Chaos Emerald. In addition, he can make more than seven of them to power his machines. With this in mind however, most of his machines are able to use regular Chaos Emeralds as well.

  • Tails was around 17 when Blossom was born. As a teenager with no prior experience rasing children (and no, Chao do not count), he was scared and confused on what to do. He kept Blossom's existence a secret for quite a while, only initially telling Gemerl, Cream and Vanilla, since Tails saw Vanilla as a trustworthy source for information, and Cream was taking classes at the time to be able to take on babysitting jobs. Once he felt he had things under control after about a month, only then would he tell Sonic and the others.

  • Tumblr Link | Tails' Hyper Form when he uses the Super Emeralds enhances his abilities, but also increases the potency of his Kitsune blood, allowing him temporary access to powers he hasn't learned yet. This is why his Hyper Form summons and powers up four Flickies - they are called by a Nature Affinity from his Kitsune blood.

  • Tumblr Link | A lot of Tails' robots are designed with the same kind of free will that a lot of Eggman's robots had - particularly Metal Sonic and Gamma, as well as Emerl/Gemerl. Because of this, they tend to be less coordinated, something Tails finds charming. It gives them personality, in his mind.

Initially a superweapon developed by the centuries old Nocturnus Clan, Gemerl’s life has been one of nothing but pain. Known only by the name Gizoid, meaning “everything” in the clan’s language, he was created as a soldier that would learn the abilities and powers of whoever it came across, becoming the ultimate weapon in the process. However, this power would lead to the destruction of the clan, and the Gizoid was lost to the world.The powerless robot would be found in the Ancient Ruins, only to be thrown into a warehouse where he was picked up by Professor Gerald Robotnik and taken aboard the Space Colony ARK, where Gerald would perform extensive research on his abilities and history. In the process, a link with the professor was formed, though would soon be lost as the Gizoid would lose control after harnessing the power of a Chaos Emerald, destroying most of the ARK.After the robot was locked away, Gerald would find himself with it in his possession again, at which point he would give it a “soul” identical to that of Maria, and giving him more of a free-willed AI in the process. Despite this however, the Gizoid was once again locked up by the government, only to be released around 50 years later by Doctor Ivo Robotnik.Though Eggman wouldn’t be able to get the robot to function as his father’s research had indicated, a certain series of circumstances would lead Sonic and friends to bring the Gizoid (now named Emerl) to full strength, which would lead to his original programming reawakening and requiring him to be destroyed. Despite this, the memory of him would live on in his friends.Eggman would soon find the remains of Emerl, repairing him into the form he is in today. He would once again lose control within the Chaos Emeralds’ influence, leading to both Eggman and Sonic to destroy him once again. However, this time he would be found by Tails, who rebuilt the robot as a guardian and friend for Cream.Ever since then Gemerl would be a close ally with Sonic and friends, aiding them whenever the need would arise. As Tails’ skills would improve as well, he would continue to make improvements to the former Gizoid, eventually restoring at least some part of his previous copy abilities. In return, Gemerl has been working for Tails as a part-time assistant for his company.

  • After Gemerl was rebuilt and reprogrammed, he was made into a simple robot to act as both a friend and bodyguard to Cream. He didn’t have his old copy abilities, both due to Tails’ fear of him losing control again and an inability to fully understand the technology. However, as the years went by and with much research, Tails has been able to restore this ability while also mostly removing his Gizoid programming.

  • While the bulk of his Gizoid programming has been erased, he retains his love of fighting. There are a few different factors for this, such as him being Cream's bodyguard and the context of sparring being how Sonic and Tails met Emerl in the first place, but also just from naturally being around people like Sonic, Knuckles and Shadow, all of which are rather fierce combatants in their own rights.

  • Due to his copy ability and inherent compatibility with Chaos Emeralds, Gemerl is fully capable of utilizing Chaos abilities in the same way that Shadow can, with or without an Emerald on hand. Though as is the case with Shadow, having a Chaos Emerald will enhance those abilities to greater levels.

  • He is completely aware of what Chaos Emeralds have done to him in the past, both in the case of Emerl and Gemerl. In both instances, he was driven mad by his Gizoid programming and lashed out in terrible ways, becoming too powerful for even Eggman to control as he initially hoped. These encounters have left him with a sour taste in his metaphorical mouth at even the mere thought of Chaos Emeralds.

  • Gemerl is capable of harnessing the power of Tails' Fake Emeralds, granting him a temporary power boost. Despite this he tries to only do it as a last resort, as he’s more worried about losing control of himself than Tails is.

A clone of the Ultimate Lifeform originally created as a backup plan for Doctor Eggman, his life began when he was woken up from his pod to a rather... unorthodox sight. His pod had washed up on the beach of a small island after a fight with Metal Sonic had thrown the ship carrying them deep into the ocean, being the only survivor. Robotnik, having tracked this remaining pod down, took the opportunity to awaken this clone and spin a story about how he was the real Shadow, and that he was being replaced by a clone.Due to the damage the pod had sustained, the clone had developed a significant number of damages in the cloning process. The red on his body would come out yellow, all save for his eyes. The strength in his arms and legs was nonexistent, and his eyesight was awful. Robotnik took the clone in and gave him new prosthetic limbs to fix his muscular issues, and even gave him implants to repair his eyesight, all to aid him in a singular goal;Killing Shadow the Hedgehog.The clone would do his best to accomplish this goal over the course of a few years, until one failure had cost him not only his favor with Robotnik, but nearly cost him his life. He would just barely manage to escape that situation, finding himself lost in the city for quite some time. It was around then that he started to question whether or not he was really the real Shadow, leaving him cold, alone, and afraid of the world around him.It wouldn't be until he was nearly at death's door that he would be found by Tails. He was taken in and nursed back to health, explaining his situation in full. Tails was not only quick to understand it, but was hospitable as well and even built him a treehouse on the edge of the city. Now armed with the knowledge that he is actually a clone of Shadow and backed by Tails, he would take on the name Odin as a means of distancing himself from the Ultimate Lifeform, taking on odd jobs to try and experience what it means to finally live free.

A young Seedrian born from Tails caring for the last seed of Cosmo, Blossom is a free-spirited teen who has grown up in this new world free of the threat of Robotnik. As Tails' daughter she has had a lot of time to spend around not only the fox himself, but also his friend group. As a result, she has taken on many different aspects of their personalities to forge her own. Cream's gentle nature and love for gardening, Amy's spiritualism, Sonic's free spirit, and Tails' own thirst for knowledge.In more recent years she has taken up ice skating, and Tails is always more than happy to drop everything to go see her perform. Despite having his company, Blossom is the most important thing to Tails, and he will do whatever it takes to keep her safe.

Tails was never too fond of Eggman's robot designs, but there was always something about the E-Series that intrigued him, particularly in the case of the early models. He was rather interested in how Gamma was able to simply turn on his creator, and wondered if he was programmed with free will or developed one himself when faced with adversity.Not long after the attack from Perfect Chaos on Station Square, Tails found the Egg Carrier off of the coast of the Mystic Ruins. He found the main computer and was able to recover a backup of not only the plans for the E-Series, but also data of Gamma's final moments. In that time he opted to steal them for his own use, restoring Gamma as an AI companion for the time being.

You'd be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't at least know the stories of the terrible Doctor Robotnik, or "Eggman" as he's come to be known by. The man who blew a hole in the moon, who enslaved a race of aliens for a theme park, and did so much more... and now, all of a sudden, he's gone.Nobody seems to know where he is. Rumors aplenty have popped up over the years, between simple ones like "He was finally tracked down by G.U.N. and taken care of", to more extravagant ones like "He grew ill and took over the body of Sonic in an attempt to live forever". These days, the only real echoes of his influence are that Tails has taken to adopting his schematics from old robots, ships and miscellaneous machines, and has been trying to "rehabilitate" them, in a sense.Could he know more about the doctor's whereabouts...?

Amy had chased after Sonic in her early years, admiring him to the point of developing a crush on him. As a young girl she was competent as a member of the team, but she would try and get her hands on Sonic in any way she could, even to the point of accidentally stumbling into trouble. This would often lead to her being not only rejected by Sonic, but even sometimes outright ignored.As she grew however, she would mellow out and become both one of his closest friends and most reliable allies. Throughout the years she and Sonic would grow closer, and when Eggman had finally disappeared, the two of them took the opportunity to try dating. This would go on for some time, the two of them eventually getting married and taking their relationship on the road, with Amy using her newfound free time to better study the occult. From their van, Amy runs a small business where she will do tarot readings, create and sell charms for various purposes, and even sometimes practice her more occult activities such as communicating with spirits.

For about as long as there has been Eggman, there has been Sonic. One a force of evil and corruption, the other an unstoppable force of justice and freedom. Sonic is known throughout the world for being two things: one of the world's greatest heroes, and the fastest thing alive. But in a world without a villain, a world that's finally able to know peace... what's a hedgehog like him supposed to do?He was well known for fighting Eggman, rushing in to save the day. Eventually though, the Doctor would disappear, and his reign of terror would end. This put Sonic in a stange place. What was there for him to do now? His speed wasn't used to rush in and save the day anymore, and while he was still considered a hero, there wasn't really anyone in need of saving. So, he did what a lot of heroes would - settle down. It was strange for Sonic, finally getting himself a wife and some time to rest, but he found it difficult, and it didn't quite suit who he was. So, after much discussion with Amy, the two of them bought a van and decided to travel, a lifestyle much more fitting of the Blue Blur.

The Ultimate Lifeform created by Professor Gerald Robotnik, Shadow's life has been one of tragedy, pain, and the hurdles that come with moving on through those struggles despite the odds. In many ways, he found himself relating to the Commander of G.U.N, Abraham Tower. Though the two of them had an adversarial relationship at first, misunderstandings were eventually cleared up, and the two would become allies.This would come to a head when Abraham was set to retire. Shadow, having been working closely with G.U.N. at the time, was offered a chance to take over his position. Though it took some convincing, he would eventually agree and take over the position of Commander. Now, years after Abraham's passing, he retains the role of Commander as a means of maintaining his old friend's legacy, in much the same way he holds onto Maria's by protecting those in need.
